The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, led by Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has recorded remarkable achievements in its efforts to revolutionize the state’s transportation system. Since taking office, Osiyemi has implemented various initiatives aimed at enhancing the commuting experience for Lagos residents.
The Highlights of the ministry so far under Osiyemi are (but not limited to);
- 2,231 New Buses to Ease Transportation: The Lagos Government has introduced 2,231 new buses to its fleet, significantly increasing the capacity of the state’s transportation system. This move is expected to reduce congestion and travel times, making commuting easier for residents.
- 25 New Ferries to Boost Water Transportation: In a bid to explore alternative transportation options, the state government has announced plans to launch 25 new ferries to enhance water transportation. This initiative will not only reduce road congestion but also provide a faster and more efficient way to travel.
- Introduction of Transport Management Solution (TMS) Devices: The ministry has introduced TMS devices to monitor and manage the state’s transportation system more effectively. These devices since introduction have captured over 26,816 real-time traffic infractions, hence improving the overall efficiency of the transportation network.
- LASTMA Recruits Cadet Officers: The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has recruited new cadet officers to enhance traffic management and enforcement. This move is expected to reduce traffic congestion and ensure a smoother commuting experience.
Commenting on the achievements, Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi said: “Our goal is to create a transportation system that is efficient, effective, and sustainable. We are committed to continuously innovating and improving the commuting experience for Lagos residents.”
