The maiden edition of Eko Mi Awards, a celebration of individuals, organizations and government agencies that have contributed positively to the development of Lagos State is set to hold on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Sheraton Hotel and Tower, Ikeja, Lagos and important dignitaries who are expected and have given the nod that they will be gracing the event include the number one citizen of the state, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Cardinal James Odumbaku, a renowned political mobilizer amongst others.
Other outstanding individuals and organizations/ agencies that have been nominated in various categories for the awards include Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the commissioner for the environment and water resources, Mr. Seun Osiyemi, the commissioner for transportation, Aare Bashir Fakorede, AXA Insurance, Oba Saheed Elegushi, Nigerian Breweries, Glo, LAMATA, Brila FM, GAC Motors, St. Ives Hospital, Tony Elumelu Foundation and others.
Part of the lineup of activities for the event include the conferment of the Omo Eko Pataki honor on Governor Sanwo-Olu, for his outstanding performance as the governor of the state. There will also be guest artistes’ entertainment, cultural display and other performances by indigenous artistes. Eko Mi Awards according to the organizers is going to be an annual event where outstanding brands, individuals and government agencies will be duly recognized and honored for their contributions to Lagos State.
Eko Mi Awards is being organized by Eko Mi, Eko E magazine, a grassroot publication dedicated to promoting the traditions, ethos and values as well as the socio cultural and economic development of Lagos State. The magazine is distributed statewide free.
