During an interactive session with the Senate Ad-hoc committee investigating alleged sabotage in the Nigerian petroleum industry, Aliyu Suleiman, Group Chief Strategy Officer of Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company, made a significant revelation.
He stated that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) supplies 60% of the crude oil to the refinery, contradicting earlier claims made by Rabiu A. Umar, Group Chief Commercial Officer of Dangote Industries Limited.
Umar had previously stated that NNPCL only provides 33% of the required crude, necessitating external sourcing to meet the refinery’s 650,000 barrels per day production capacity.
Suleiman presented a revised breakdown, indicating that out of five million barrels of crude oil received recently, NNPCL supplied 60%, with 20% imported and 20% purchased from other sources.
He expressed gratitude for the strong partnership between Dangote Refinery and NNPCL, which has facilitated the substantial crude supply.
Suleiman emphasized the need for collective support to ensure the refinery’s growth and survival, likening it to a nascent entity requiring nurturing.
