Here are five quick facts about the proposed Lagos’ 4th Mainland Bridge.
1. The 4th mainland bridge is expected to be the longest in Africa at 38 kilometers, surpassing the 20.5km ‘6th October 1 Bridge’ of Egypt. Lagos only competes with other nations) and is more than three times the length of the 3rd Mainland Bridge. The legacy bridge shall feature 3 toll plazas, 9 interchanges, a 4.5-kilometre Lagoon Bridge, and an eco-friendly environment, amongst other premium extras.
2. The project will be a PPP-financed initiative between the Pride of the Nation, the Lagos State government, and some reputable private companies.
3. It will achieve its major aim of connecting Lagos Island by way of Langbasa (Lekki) and Baiyeku (Ikorodu) across the Lagos Lagoon to Itamaga, in Ikorodu.
4. The construction will start in April this year. It will cost an estimated $2.5 billion.
