President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following a two-week annual leave in the United Kingdom. His aircraft arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Saturday evening, signalling the conclusion of his working leave. A presidential aide, Dada Olusegun, shared the news on social media, stating, “The eagle has landed. Welcome home, Mr. President.”
Upon his arrival, Tinubu was welcomed by several government officials, including Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State. Notable attendees at the welcoming event included his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu. The presence of these officials highlighted the significance of Tinubu’s return and the collaborative spirit of his administration.
Femi Gbajabiamila highlighted the significance of the president’s recent time away, indicating that it provided an opportunity for him to recharge and reflect on the achievements of his administration over the past year and a half. He noted that such breaks are crucial for leaders engaged in intense governance and reassured the public that Tinubu’s working holiday was productive. He stated, “He was working and resting at the same time,” implying that the president used his time abroad to strategize and plan for future initiatives.
With Tinubu back in Nigeria, Gbajabiamila expressed optimism regarding the administration’s upcoming projects. He encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, indicating that they would soon witness the outcomes of the government’s efforts. “Nigerians will begin to see the fruits of his labour and our labour,” he remarked, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to delivering on its promises.
The president’s two-week leave was described as a working holiday, allowing him to reflect on his administration’s direction since assuming office in May 2023. This time away was not solely for rest; it also served as an opportunity to reevaluate policies and strategies for future progress. The administration appears poised to re-engage fully with pressing national issues now that Tinubu has returned.
As he resumes his duties, the expectations from the public are high. Many are looking forward to renewed efforts and initiatives focused on addressing the challenges the nation is facing. Tinubu’s administration is now set to ramp up its activities and continue its mission to enhance the well-being of Nigerians as they await the tangible results of the president’s renewed vigour.
