Mevo Alex Sunday, a 35-year-old male resident of No. 1 Shillon Street, Ilupeju, Lagos, has been arrested by Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) officers on duty at Badagry Roundabout for impersonating an LNSC operative.
According to a statement released by the Agency, during investigation and interrogation at the LNSA Command office in Badagry, Sunday claimed that the uniform found in his possession was sold to him in November last year by an unknown LNSA officer named Mr. Femi, whom he met at Odi-Olowo LCDA Command.
Sunday alleged that Mr. Femi promised to assist him in securing employment with the Neighbourhood Corp in exchange for N25,000. He further stated that a week after making the payment, Mr. Femi provided him with a complete uniform.
Speaking on the development. the General Manager of LNSA, Prince (Dr.) Ifalade Oyekan warned members of the public to be wary of persons impersonating officer of the Agency, adding that the management has zero tolerance for the impersonation of its officers and operatives.
“Mr. Governor expects top-notch service delivery from the Agency and will not subscribe to any form of indiscipline. We are on our toes to ensure the safety and security of Lagosians”, he said.
Informing that the Agency will intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the said Mr. Femi, the GM averred that the suspect has been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the Nigerian Police Headquarters, Badagry, for further investigation.
